Lucknow, April 25: Ramdas Athawale, the national president of the Republican Party of India (Athawale) and a central minister, has announced his party’s plans for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. He has requested 25 seats from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the absence of a coalition, Athawale has declared that his party is prepared to contest the elections independently.
Pawan Kumar Gupta, the president of the Republican Party of India (Athawale) in Uttar Pradesh, released an official press note on Saturday. This note outlined the party’s strategy and organizational expansion for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
According to the press note, Ramdas Athawale stated that his party is building a strong organization at the block level in Uttar Pradesh to effectively voice the concerns of the public in the upcoming 2027 Assembly elections. He emphasized that his party is a significant component of the NDA government at the center. In Uttar Pradesh, they aim to contest together with the BJP for 25 seats. If this demand is not met, the party will run independently in the Assembly elections.
Athawale also mentioned that the RPI serves as the voice for the extremely marginalized, backward, and oppressed communities in Uttar Pradesh. He criticized certain parties for developing at the expense of these groups, claiming they have received nothing in return.
He urged Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to ensure the construction of community buildings in Dalit-majority villages through the social welfare department, with management responsibilities assigned to members of these communities.
Additionally, Ramdas Athawale held the Congress and the Samajwadi Party accountable for the non-passage of the women’s reservation and delimitation bills. He described both parties as anti-women, asserting that their opposition to the bills hinders women’s development.
