Mumbai: On the eve of Republic Day 2026, the central Government announced the Padma Awards for the year. Among the distinguished recipients, veteran actor Dharmendra Singh Deol was posthumously honoured with the prestigious Padma Vibhushan.
The announcement has brought joy not only to the Deol family but also to the entire entertainment fraternity. Pinky Roshan, wife of actor Rakesh Roshan, expressed her happiness on Monday through an emotional post on Instagram.
Sharing a photograph of Dharmendra, she wrote, “My heart is filled with immense joy that my dearest uncle Dharmendra, who has been an important part of my childhood and family, is being honoured by the Government.”
Pinky Roshan further added, “Since childhood, I have felt his love and warmth. He was an extremely affectionate, humble, and kind-hearted person who will always live in my heart. I wish he could see this honour himself. His legacy will forever remain alive in our hearts. Lots of love to you, uncle.”
Dharmendra received the Padma Vibhushan in recognition of his long-standing contribution to the field of arts. Over several decades, he made a significant mark in Hindi cinema. Known famously as ‘He-Man’, Dharmendra delivered unforgettable performances in classic films such as Sholay, Seeta Aur Geeta, and Yaadon Ki Baaraat. His films continue to hold a special place in the hearts of audiences.
His latest film, Ikkis, directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, was released on 1 January 2026. The screenplay was crafted by Sriram Raghavan, Arijit Biswas, and Pooja Ladha Surti. The movie features actors such as Agastya Nanda, Simar Bhatia, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikandar Kher, Rahul Dev, Vivaan Shah, and Ekavali Khanna in key roles. Despite high expectations, the film received mixed reviews from viewers.
