Rajnath Singh to Unveil Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Madan Mohan Malaviya Portraits in Delhi Assembly

New Delhi, 3 January: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will unveil the portraits of ‘India Ratna’ Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya in the Delhi Assembly on Saturday. Speaker of the Delhi Assembly, Vijendra Gupta, stated that these portraits will be installed as a mark of deep respect and lasting tribute to the significant contributions of these national figures to India’s democracy, education, culture, and public life.

Speaker Vijendra Gupta also shared that a coffee table book titled ‘India Mata’ will be launched during the event. The book showcases Indian nationalism through paintings, architecture, and literature. He added that this publication is dedicated to the creative and artistic expression of India’s national consciousness and commemorates 150 years of the composition of the national song, Vande Mataram.

The programme will be attended by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Padma Bhushan Ram Bahadur Rai, Chairman of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Delhi’s Minister for Legislative Affairs Parvesh Verma, and Deputy Speaker of the Delhi Assembly Mohan Singh Bisht.

It is expected that around 1,000 people will participate in the event. All concerned departments have been instructed to maintain close coordination to ensure a safe, orderly, and dignified programme. As part of the national event, artists from the Literature and Arts Council will present a patriotic cultural programme reflecting India’s rich artistic and national heritage.

An official statement mentioned that Speaker Vijendra Gupta convened a high-level meeting on Thursday with senior officials from the Delhi Police and various departments regarding the event preparations.

During the meeting with officials from Delhi Police, Public Works Department, Horticulture Department, Fire Services, Health Department, and the Delhi Assembly Secretariat, the Speaker issued necessary instructions to ensure smooth conduct of the event. Special emphasis was placed on security, crowd management, traffic arrangements, parking facilities, fire safety, and medical preparedness.
