Rajasthan Royals Opt to Bat First Against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026 Clash

Jaipur, May 1: Rajasthan Royals (RR) won the toss and chose to bat first against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 43rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. RR aims to secure a victory at Sawai Mansingh Stadium to climb to second place in the points table.

After winning the toss, RR captain Riyan Parag stated, “We will bat first. This is not a typical Jaipur wicket; it appears a bit dry and patchy. We hope it slows down in the second innings. The experience of chasing 228 runs is always beneficial. Everyone is stepping up to take responsibility. We have not played a full 40 overs yet, but we hope to showcase our full potential today. Ravi Bishnoi and Shubham Dubey are both in the team.”

On the other hand, DC captain Axar Patel mentioned, “We have made three changes to our playing eleven. Mitchell Starc is playing, while Dushmantha Chameera is out. Pathum Nissanka is in, meaning David Miller will sit out. Ashok Sharma is also in the team. The wicket looks good, and we are happy to chase. It’s essential to return to basics. To change things, you need to stay present and focus on positive aspects.”

Rajasthan Royals have won 6 out of 9 matches this season. After winning their first four matches, they lost three out of the next five. Currently, RR is in fourth place on the points table. A win today would elevate them above Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Conversely, Delhi Capitals sit in seventh place, having lost 5 out of 8 matches. After winning their first two games, DC has lost 5 out of the next six. The Capitals are eager to regain their winning momentum.

DC’s playing eleven includes: KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Pathum Nissanka, Nitish Rana, Sameer Rizvi, Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel (captain), Ashutosh Sharma, Kyle Jamieson, Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, and T Natarajan.

RR’s playing eleven features: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav SuryaVanshi, Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), Riyan Parag (captain), Donovan Ferreira, Ravindra Jadeja, Shubham Dubey, Jofra Archer, Ravi Bishnoi, Nandre Burger, and Brajesh Sharma.
