Rajasthan Police Freezes Assets Worth ₹3.92 Crore of Notorious Drug Trafficker

Jaipur, June 2: The Rajasthan police have taken significant action against drug trafficking in Baran district by freezing assets worth over ₹3.92 crore belonging to notorious drug trafficker Biramchand Lodha and his family.

This operation was conducted under the ‘Operation Vajra Prahar’ initiative, in accordance with Section 68F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Andasu stated that this campaign is part of the state government’s zero-tolerance policy aimed at dismantling the financial roots of drug trafficking. He emphasized that the goal is not only to arrest traffickers but also to completely dismantle their economic empires built from illegal earnings.

Investigations revealed that Biramchand Lodha, a resident of Dokri Koh in the Sarathal police station area, had invested money earned from drug trafficking into various properties under the names of his wife Phoolabai, brother Rahul Lodha, and sister-in-law Bhavna.

The frozen assets include ₹1 crore 60 lakh 26 thousand 526 in both movable and immovable properties. These consist of two luxurious houses, five plots of land, two cars (Maruti and Eco), and a motorcycle. Additionally, suspicious transactions amounting to ₹2 crore 32 lakh 54 thousand 585 were identified in bank accounts.

A detailed financial audit conducted by the police indicated that there had been substantial transactions in the family’s bank accounts over the past year, with no legitimate source of income found. Investigating agencies have deemed these transactions suspicious and have acted accordingly.

Biramchand Lodha is already accused in three serious cases under the NDPS Act, including one related to the trafficking of commercial quantities of narcotics.

Previously, the police had seized 250 kilograms of opium husk linked to his trafficking activities, valued at approximately ₹10 lakh in the international market. They also confiscated a car worth around ₹8 lakh used in the trafficking.

This entire operation was executed by a joint special team from the SP’s office and the Sarathal police station. The police have stated that similar economic and legal actions against drug traffickers will continue in the future.
