Jodhpur, 20 August (Kiran News). The Rajasthan High Court has expressed strong displeasure over the negligence of Jodhpur Municipal Corporation and the poor state of sanitation in the city, issuing a stern rebuke. The division bench of Justice Vinit Kumar Mathur and Justice Anuroop Singhi, while hearing a petition filed by Mahesh Gehlot, made sharp comments on the cleanliness arrangements of the municipal corporation, stating that the cleanliness situation in Jodhpur is extremely deplorable.

Mahesh Gehlot, through advocate Bheemkant Vyas, had filed a petition seeking removal of debris and garbage from Lalsagar forest in connection with the Anasagar dam. The court observed that the matter is not limited to the Anasagar dam, but concerns the cleanliness of the entire city of Jodhpur. The court stated clearly that the negligence of the municipal corporation is alarming and that excuses will no longer be tolerated. The advocate for the municipal corporation requested additional time to submit a report regarding compliance with the court’s directions and the removal of debris/garbage from the concerned government land. The next hearing will be held on 16 September.
High Court Demands Affidavit
The High Court has directed the advocate of the municipal corporation to file an affidavit detailing how many authorized sanitation employees are with the municipal corporation and how many are actually working. The municipal corporation has also been asked to present an action plan for cleaning roads and parks, and removing debris and garbage from the city of Jodhpur. The court clarified that if the Commissioners of Jodhpur Municipal Corporation North and South do not present the affidavit at the next hearing on 16 September, the court will order both officials to appear in person.
