Rajasthan Heatwave Update: Mercury Crosses 45°C in Five Cities, Relief Likely from Saturday

Jaipur, April 18 Rajasthan is reeling under an intense heatwave as the mercury has soared beyond 45 degrees Celsius in five major cities. Churu and Sriganganagar recorded the highest day temperatures at 45.4°C, while Phalodi witnessed the hottest night with a low of 31.6°C. However, relief from the scorching conditions is expected starting Saturday, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

Rajasthan Boils as Heatwave Intensifies

The IMD has confirmed that five cities in Rajasthan have breached the 45°C mark, placing them among the hottest places in India. Apart from Churu and Sriganganagar, Chittorgarh, Kota, and Vanasthali also crossed the red-hot 45-degree threshold. Bikaner, Jodhpur, and Kota divisions are expected to continue facing heatwave conditions, even as parts of the state may begin to cool down slightly.

Weather Forecast: Dust Storms and Falling Temperatures Ahead

According to Radheshyam Sharma, Director of the Jaipur Meteorological Center, temperatures in the state could drop by 2–4 degrees Celsius from April 19 onwards. Isolated dust storms with wind speeds of 30-40 km/h are also expected in Jodhpur and Bikaner regions over the next 48 hours. The state may see broader relief from the heatwave starting April 20.

Jaipur Heat Update: City Sizzles at 43.5°C

In Jaipur, people were seen seeking shelter in the shade as the intense heat gripped the city. Although the temperature slightly dropped compared to previous days, it still hit a sweltering 43.5°C. Gusty hot winds swept through the Pink City, making outdoor activity uncomfortable. A marginal dip in temperatures is predicted for Saturday, offering some comfort to residents.
