Rain Spoils Final T20 Match as India and West Indies Series Ends in Draw

The final T20 match between India and West Indies was abandoned due to rain, resulting in a 2-2 series tie.

Bengaluru, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : The final T20 match between India and West Indies at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru was abandoned due to rain on October 17, 2026. The match was reduced to 9 overs per side after rain interrupted play, but further rain halted the game again after just 7.4 overs, leading to its cancellation. This outcome meant the five-match series ended in a 2-2 draw.

Initially scheduled for a 6:30 PM toss, the game was delayed until 9 PM due to rain, resulting in a shortened powerplay of only 2.4 overs. West Indies won the toss and opted to field first. India lost their first wicket on the fifth ball when Abhishek Sharma fell for just 6 runs. Ishan Kishan then partnered with Sanju Samson to score 32 runs in just 10 balls for the second wicket.

Kishan scored 30 runs off 10 balls, hitting 2 sixes and 3 fours, before being dismissed. Samson, alongside captain Shreyas Iyer, contributed to a quick 21-run partnership for the third wicket, pushing India toward a solid score. India lost Samson for 16 runs at a total of 66, but Tilak Varma helped stabilize the innings with Iyer, adding 22 runs for the fourth wicket in 12 balls.

Iyer scored 22 runs off 14 balls, including 2 boundaries, while Varma added 30 runs with Naman Dhir for the fifth wicket in just 9 balls. India reached 118 runs before rain interrupted the match once again, and the umpires ultimately decided to abandon the game.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar made his return to the Indian team after nearly four years but did not get a chance to bowl in this match. After winning the ODI series 2-1, India took the first T20 match by 8 wickets. West Indies leveled the series with a 6-wicket victory in the next game. India regained the lead with a 14-run win in the third match, but West Indies responded with a 24-run victory in the following match, setting up a decisive final that was ultimately thwarted by rain.
