Mumbai, February 18: Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has made headlines by alleging that Indian data was sold during an AI conference. In response, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam sharply criticized Gandhi’s remarks, stating they are against India’s interests.
Nirupam emphasized that India is presented with a significant opportunity to lead in the AI sector, which should be a source of pride. Unfortunately, he noted that the Congress party is choosing to criticize rather than support this initiative.
In an interview with a news agency, Nirupam described the vastness and complexity of the AI universe, likening it to a parallel world that poses a significant challenge for understanding and adapting to human civilization. He mentioned that India has embraced this challenge by hosting an international summit on AI. While acknowledging that not every summit meets expectations, he stressed the importance of deeply understanding this intricate subject.
Nirupam pointed out that the first AI summit was held in Paris through a collaboration between India and France, and the second is now taking place in India. This initiative aims to enhance understanding of the AI landscape and explore how it can benefit human civilization and societal development. He cautioned that questioning the entire summit based on minor incidents could harm India’s global reputation.
Referring to a recent kidnapping incident in Baramati, Nirupam noted that a Hindu girl was allegedly abducted by a Muslim youth, leading to outrage among her family and community. He urged the Baramati and Pune police to take the matter seriously and swiftly apprehend those responsible.
He condemned any form of violence or property damage, appealing to villagers and relatives not to harm their own community in anger and to allow the administration to do its job. He reassured that the police are supportive of the victim’s family and that the girl would return home safely.
On the topic of reservations, Nirupam stated that the Supreme Court has made clear rulings, and the Constitution prohibits reservations based on religion. He accused the Congress government of succumbing to pressure from some Muslim legislators to initiate reservations for Marathas and Muslims. He believes that the demand for reservations by the Maratha community is justified based on social and educational backwardness, but he labeled Muslim reservations as appeasement politics.
Nirupam argued that implementing such arrangements outside the constitutional framework and disregarding Supreme Court directives was ultimately annulled. He asserted that if reservations are to be granted to OBC, SC, or ST categories, it should be done within constitutional provisions, warning that introducing reservations based on religion could be detrimental to the nation.
