New Delhi, May 4: In the wake of election results from West Bengal, Kerala, Assam, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has raised serious concerns regarding the transparency of the electoral process. On Monday, he accused the ruling party at the center and the Election Commission of orchestrating a “theft” of elections in Assam and West Bengal.
Gandhi took to the social media platform ‘X’ to express his views, stating that Assam and West Bengal are clear examples where the BJP, with the support of the Election Commission, has manipulated the elections. He echoed the sentiments of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, claiming that over 100 seats were stolen in West Bengal. He noted that similar tactics were observed in Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, and during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
He further stated, “Election theft, institutional theft—what more is there to say?”
Previously, TMC leader Mamata Banerjee had also leveled serious allegations against the BJP and the Election Commission. She claimed that the BJP had looted over 100 seats and described the Election Commission as an extension of the BJP. “Do you think this is a victory? It is an unethical victory. Everything the Election Commission has done is completely illegal and amounts to looting,” she asserted.
Current trends indicate that the BJP is poised to form the government in Assam, while a significant shift is occurring in West Bengal. The TMC is reportedly trailing with fewer than 100 seats, while the BJP leads with over 200 seats. In Tamil Nadu, actor-turned-politician Vijay’s party, TVK, appears to be winning the most seats, and in Kerala, the Congress seems set to form the government.
