Rahul Gandhi Intensifies Attack on Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan Ahead of Elections

Palakkad, April 6: Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi launched a fierce attack on Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday. With elections approaching, he targeted the Chief Minister twice in one day.
During his first address in Thrissur and the second in Palakkad, Gandhi accused the ruling CPI(M) and BJP of having an unspoken understanding. He stated that Kerala’s political landscape is no longer a straightforward two-way battle. Instead, the Congress-led UDF is now fighting against both the CPI(M)-led LDF and the BJP.
Gandhi criticized the government’s promotional efforts, claiming they revolve solely around the Chief Minister, who is being portrayed as the only capable leader to govern the state. He drew parallels between Vijayan’s style of governance and that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the national level.
He accused the leftist government of straying from its ideology, asserting that it has become a “capitalist-friendly government” that no longer adheres to leftist principles. Gandhi claimed that several former left leaders are now contesting elections with the UDF, indicating discontent within the LDF. This includes former minister G. Sudhakaran among others.
He also pointed out that grassroots-level left supporters are disillusioned, attributing this to the Chief Minister’s growing “arrogance.” Gandhi questioned why the BJP does not directly attack Vijayan and why issues like the Sabarimala gold smuggling scandal have not been raised by the Prime Minister.
Raising concerns about the use of central agencies, he noted that while the Enforcement Directorate takes action against him, questions are not directed at the Chief Minister’s family. He alleged a tacit understanding between PM Modi and Vijayan, suggesting that both are protecting each other.
Despite ongoing attacks from the BJP and RSS, Gandhi claimed that he continues to receive support from the people of Kerala, including some supporters of both the UDF and LDF.
