Rahul Gandhi Criticizes PM Modis Foreign Visit Amid Rising Inflation

Amethi, May 20: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) during his visit to Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli and Amethi. In Amethi, he commented on PM Modi’s meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, stating that while inflation and unemployment rise in the country, Modi is busy “eating candies.”

Speaking to reporters in Amethi, Gandhi expressed concern for the youth, highlighting issues such as the cancellation of the NEET exam, rising gas and petrol prices, and increasing inflation. He remarked, “While the youth are in depression, PM Modi is enjoying candies with Giorgia Meloni.”

Gandhi’s remarks came in response to Modi’s visit to Italy, where he met with Meloni and gifted her a packet of ‘Melody’ candies, a moment that went viral on social media after being shared by the Italian Prime Minister herself.

Earlier, during a public meeting in Raebareli, Gandhi made controversial statements regarding the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and RSS. He noted that while people pay homage to Ambedkar, they forget to defend his constitution when the RSS openly attacks it.

He emphasized, “When RSS members tear apart this constitution in front of you, you remain silent. I want to remind you that your voice and blood are part of this constitution. It is your duty and responsibility to protect it.”

Gandhi further criticized PM Modi’s advice against foreign travel and gold purchases, warning that farmers might soon struggle to access fertilizers. He predicted an economic storm, stating, “In just a few months, you will see where inflation, petrol, diesel, and gas prices will reach. The Prime Minister openly tells you not to buy gold or travel abroad while he himself travels in a plane worth thousands of crores, and you remain silent.”
