R. Madhavan, Alka Yagnik, and Mammootty Honored with Prestigious Padma Awards

Mumbai, June 23: Renowned figures from the entertainment industry, including actors R. Madhavan, Mammootty, and singer Alka Yagnik, were honored with the prestigious Padma Awards on Tuesday.

The ceremony took place at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, recognizing individuals from various fields for their remarkable contributions to society.

In January, when the recipients of the Padma Bhushan were announced, Alka Yagnik shared her heartfelt emotions on social media. She expressed her gratitude to the Government of India, stating, “I am deeply thankful for being awarded the Padma Bhushan. After decades in the film and music industry, this honor fills me with humility and profound emotions.”

She also extended her thanks to everyone who supported her journey, saying, “A heartfelt thank you to filmmakers, musicians, lyricists, co-singers, artists, technicians, press, media, and all those who are the soul of our films! This journey would not have been possible without you. To my friends, family, and listeners… your love has been my constant strength. This music, this journey, and this moment belong to all of us. Lots of love, Alka.”

R. Madhavan, who received the Padma Shri for his contributions to Indian cinema, stated, “I accept the Padma Shri with immense gratitude and humility. This honor is beyond my dreams, and I dedicate it to my entire family, whose unwavering support and belief have empowered me the most. This recognition is possible only due to the blessings of my mentors, the goodwill of my well-wishers, the love and encouragement of the public, and above all, the grace of the Almighty. Each of these has played an invaluable role in shaping my journey and bringing me to this point.”

Mammootty was also awarded the Padma Bhushan alongside the two Malayalam superstars. After the ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Mammootty and his actor son Dulquer Salmaan.

On Tuesday, during the second Padma award ceremony, a total of 65 individuals were honored, including 2 Padma Vibhushan, 7 Padma Bhushan, and 56 Padma Shri awards. Earlier, on May 26, another ceremony had honored 66 recipients with Padma awards.
