Srinagar, March 8 : A senior Indian Army officer on Tuesday asked the people of Kashmir to question those who sponsor terrorists indulging in “mindless killings”, the like of which left two persons, including a 20-year-old woman, dead recently here. General-officer-Commanding of the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps, Lt Gen Devendra Pratap Pandey, said it was high time the people to awoke and asked those driving the agenda of youths perpetuating violence in Kashmir. He was speaking to the media on the sidelines of a function on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Lt Gen Pandey was reacting on a recent grenade attack by militants at a crowded place on Hari Singh High Street in Srinagar in which two persons died and 33 others were injured. “It is cowardly and condemnable,” he said. He said the situation on the Line of Control (LoC) was “absolutely good and fine”. The people living near the LoC in Uri, Keran and Tangdhar were able to send their children to schools, farmers could work in fields and elders were attending to their respective business normally for the past one year.
