Putin Accuses Western Nations of Preparing for War Against Russia

Moscow, June 23: Russian President Vladimir Putin has claimed that Western nations are openly preparing for war against Russia and are continuously increasing their military budgets. According to local media reports, Putin made these remarks during a meeting with graduates from military academies.

As reported by the Russian state news agency TASS, Putin stated, “We are witnessing that NATO countries were initially limited to supporting the Kyiv government, which they claim came to power through illegal means and a coup. However, now the West is openly stating that it is preparing for war against us and is increasing its military spending.”

Putin emphasized that the ‘self-proclaimed democratic West’ creates threats against Russia, compelling it to take necessary security measures. Subsequently, these same nations accuse Russia of various offenses to justify their aggressive policies and actions.

He noted that the ‘rules’ established by the West do not genuinely respect the sovereignty of other nations. Putin expressed dissatisfaction with this situation.

These statements were part of a message delivered to participants of the 12th International Scientific and Expert Forum, ‘Primakov Readings,’ read by Yuri Ushakov, the President’s advisor on international affairs.

In his message, Putin remarked, “As everyone knows, Western countries speak of a so-called rules-based world, but it is evident that behind this slogan lies a desire to interfere in the affairs of other countries, pressure them to change their foreign policies, and disrespect their sovereignty.”

He added, “Russia and many other countries are not satisfied with such ‘rules.’ We support a world order based on genuine democratic principles, the rules of international law, the authority of the United Nations Security Council, mutual respect, and equality among all nations. Every country should have the freedom to choose its own path of development.”
