Jalandhar, February 25: The Punjab Police has officially inducted 2,577 new officers and personnel. During the passing-out parade at the Punjab Armed Police (PAP) campus in Jalandhar, DGP Gaurav Yadav expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for his presence.
In a post on the official ‘X’ handle, DGP Yadav stated, “Thank you to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for attending the passing-out parade of DSPs, SIs, and constables at the Punjab Armed Police campus in Jalandhar. These new trainee officers will now serve the people of Punjab with professionalism and commitment. The 2,577 trainees have completed their training at esteemed Punjab Police institutions such as MRS PAP Phillaur, PRTS Jahan Khelan, and ISTC Kapurthala.”
During the parade, Chief Minister Mann addressed the recruits, offering them congratulations and best wishes for their future. He remarked, “The Punjab Police is recognized for its bravery and determination. Today, approximately 2,600 officers have been inducted into the police department. We welcome everyone to the Punjab Police and Punjab government family. In 2026, an additional 3,400 young recruits will be hired in the police department.”
The Chief Minister added, “Thanks to the historic mandate given by the people of Punjab in March 2022, we have the opportunity to serve the public. Our first priority has been to empower and modernize the Punjab Police. We have ensured that there is never a shortage of budget to equip the police department with state-of-the-art facilities.”
He also mentioned, “Recent incidents in the Gurudaspur area are linked to Pakistan. Of the three accused involved, two have been arrested, while one was killed during an encounter.”
CM Mann emphasized, “Punjab has excellent training centers. Not only from Punjab, but other states also seek to train their police personnel here. However, we lack sufficient space and time to accommodate trainees from other states.”
