Punjab Police Arrest BK International Terrorist in Amritsar, Seize Grenade and Pistol

Amritsar: In a significant security operation ahead of Republic Day, Punjab Police has busted a terrorist module linked to the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). One terrorist operative was arrested in Amritsar, and from his possession, authorities recovered a hand grenade, a modern pistol, and a large quantity of ammunition. The Punjab Police Director General of Police (DGP), Gaurav Yadav, announced this development on Friday.

According to DGP Gaurav Yadav’s post on the social media platform X, the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Amritsar, successfully uncovered the module connected to BKI. He stated, “In a major success, the SSOC, Amritsar, has busted a terrorist module linked to the banned Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). One operative has been arrested, and a hand grenade, an advanced pistol, and ammunition have been seized.”

The DGP further revealed that a potential attack on a security installation was averted due to this operation, which took place just before the Republic Day celebrations. The arrested individual was reportedly working under the guidance of foreign handlers Nishan Jaurian, Adesh Jamrai, and Simma Deol. An FIR has been registered at the SSOC, Amritsar, under relevant legal provisions, and investigations are ongoing. DGP Yadav reiterated Punjab Police’s commitment to dismantling organised crime networks and ensuring peace and security across the state.

In a related update, DGP Yadav had earlier informed on Wednesday that Gurudaspur Police busted a cross-border illegal arms smuggling module. One accused was arrested and five modern weapons were confiscated. The arrested person was involved in supplying arms to gangsters under instructions from foreign handlers. An FIR under the Arms Act has been registered at Ghuman Kalan police station, Gurudaspur, with investigations continuing.

The Punjab Police leadership affirmed its dedication to eliminating organised crime syndicates and maintaining law and order throughout the state.
