Gharshankar, April 28: In an impressive display, Punjab FC triumphed over Zinc Football Academy with a 3-0 victory in the final of the AIFF Elite Youth League 2025-26, held at Ramsar Sahib Sports Stadium on Tuesday. Remarkably, all three goals were scored within just ten minutes during the second half.
The match saw Punjab FC, known as ‘The Cubs’, dominate the field. The first goal came from Karish Soram in the 69th minute. Just a minute later, Vishal Yadav doubled the lead. The final goal was netted by Thongram Rishikant Singh in the 79th minute, sealing the match.
In the first half, Punjab FC maintained control of the ball, keeping most of the action in Zinc Academy’s half. Both Vishal and Sameer tested Zinc FA’s goalkeeper, Smarnik Thapa, early on, but he made excellent saves to deny them.
In the 30th minute, the goalkeeper was again called into action, executing a spectacular dive to stop a header from Satnam Singh off a corner. Zinc FA managed to create a few chances using set-pieces, but their efforts went directly to Vishwajit, resulting in a scoreless first half.
Zinc FA’s defense held strong until the 69th minute when Karish Soram broke the deadlock with a stunning curling shot into the top left corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
Within a minute, Punjab FC extended their lead. Taking advantage of a defensive slip from a Zinc Academy player, Vishal Yadav seized the ball and skillfully outmaneuvered the advancing goalkeeper to score, making it 2-0.
Continuing their aggressive play, Punjab FC added a third goal in the 79th minute. Moirangthem Sayonba Singh provided a brilliant assist to Rishikant, who dribbled past his marker and scored with a left-footed shot. Punjab FC maintained control for the remainder of the match, successfully defending their title in front of their home supporters.
