Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Accuses BJP of Betrayal Amid Party Defections

Chandigarh, April 24: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann responded to the recent defections of MPs from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday. He stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has always been anti-Punjab, and the people of the state will teach these traitors a lesson.

Speaking to the media, Mann emphasized that the party is greater than any individual. He asserted that the MPs who left do not represent Punjab. When they found no grounds against him, they attempted to fracture AAP. Mann accused the BJP of creating obstacles within other parties.

He remarked, “Punjabis have a big heart and love everyone, but they never forget betrayal. The 6-7 AAP MPs who joined the BJP are not from Punjab.”

Mann labeled these individuals as traitors to the Punjabis. He pointed out that they received their seats without needing to campaign or address public issues. Their move was solely to save themselves, and now they have no place even within the BJP.

He further alleged that the BJP has betrayed Punjab.

The Chief Minister noted, “The same ‘washing machine’ has been used against Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena-UBT, and Congress. The BJP has no base in Punjab.”

Mann highlighted that since strict laws against sacrilege were enacted, the BJP’s discomfort has been evident, and they can no longer tolerate it. He accused the BJP of harboring hatred towards Punjab and AAP due to their continuous electoral defeats.

He condemned both those who leave the party and those who welcome them.

From the sacred land of Punjab, Mann declared that AAP is a party for the common people, and the public is their true strength. He asserted that the people will indeed teach a lesson to the traitors of Punjab. Such politics cannot win in Punjab. In a democracy, the people are paramount, and AAP stands firmly with the truth.

Earlier, Punjab AAP General Secretary Baltej Pannu accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of plotting to weaken the party by misusing central agencies and enticing MPs to defect.
