Punjab Chief Minister to Disburse Honorarium Under Mawan-Dhiyan Sewa Scheme for 3.55 Million Women

Chandigarh, August 1: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will launch the disbursement of honorarium under the ‘Mawan-Dhiyan Sewa Scheme’ from Pathankot on Saturday. According to government officials, a total of 3.55 million women will receive the honorarium directly in their bank accounts. Previously, 3.3 million women had already benefited from this scheme. This means that after today, a total of 6.85 million women in Punjab will receive assistance through this initiative.

Under this scheme, women from the general category will receive ₹1,000 per month, while women from Scheduled Castes will receive ₹1,500 per month. The funds are being transferred directly to the women’s bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

The Punjab government initiated this scheme in the 2026-27 budget, aiming to empower women economically and promote self-reliance.

Eligible women will receive monthly financial support ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹1,500. Women from Scheduled Castes will benefit from the higher amount of ₹1,500. The government’s goal is to strengthen women economically, making them self-sufficient and capable.

Women aged 18 years and older in Punjab are eligible for this scheme. The government states that this initiative, launched in honor of ‘mothers and daughters,’ will prevent women from relying on others for their small needs. While ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 may seem modest, it will significantly assist with household expenses.
