Punjab Cabinet recommends dissolution of House

Chandigarh, March 11 : The Punjab Cabinet has recommended the dissolution of the 15th Legislative Assembly to Governor Banwarilal Purohit. The decision was taken in a meeting held here on Friday under the chairmanship of outgoing Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. After this, the way has been cleared for the formation of a new assembly. The Chief Minister thanked his cabinet colleagues, officers and people for their cooperation. He expressed hope that the new government would continue the many decisions and initiatives taken by his government in public interest like reducing electricity rates and VAT on oil. The Congress got only 18 seats in the 117-seat assembly while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won 92. AAP leader Bhagwant Singh Mann will take oath on March 16. XC GNK MR
