New Delhi, May 10: Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva criticized Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), for his recent press conference. During the event, Kejriwal labeled the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) raid on Punjab AAP President and state minister Sanjeev Arora’s residence as a political conspiracy.
Sachdeva noted that Kejriwal appeared visibly anxious during the press conference, suggesting he is aware that the ED investigation related to Sanjeev Arora could implicate him as well. He accused Kejriwal of being the mastermind behind a broader extortion scheme.
He further stated that the manner of Arora’s arrest in an alleged money laundering case involving builders reflects a decade of corruption under AAP’s governance, similar to what has been observed in Delhi.
Sachdeva highlighted that during AAP’s rule in Delhi, several officials, including the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and a Member of Parliament, faced imprisonment due to the excise policy scandal.
He added that over the past four years, Punjab has turned into a center of corruption for Kejriwal’s team. According to Sachdeva, just as AAP’s government in Delhi colluded with liquor contractors to orchestrate a massive scam worth thousands of crores, a similar pattern of large-scale corruption is unfolding in Punjab. This includes granting major builders land use changes, excessive FAR approvals, and plotting permissions.
Sachdeva also mentioned that during a recent ED raid on a close associate of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, bundles of cash were reportedly seen flying in the air.
He pointed out that Sanjeev Arora is not the first Punjab minister to be arrested on corruption charges. Previously, AAP ministers Dr. Sanjeev Singla, Fouja Singh Sirari, and AAP MLA Raman Arora have also faced arrest due to similar allegations.
