Punit Issar Responds to Naseeruddin Shahs Mental Naxal Remarks
Punit Issar critiques Naseeruddin Shahs comments on the government, suggesting he should run for office if dissatisfied.

Mumbai, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : Naseeruddin Shah’s recent comments labeling himself a “mental Naxal” have sparked reactions from fellow actors in the entertainment industry. Punit Issar, a senior actor, offered a sharp response to Shah’s statements.
In a video shared on social media, Shah criticized the policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the central government. He expressed concerns about how critics like him are branded as “anti-national” or part of a “tukde-tukde gang” by the government and its supporters.
Shah stated, “I proudly say I am a mental Naxal,” emphasizing that those who disagree with the BJP’s ideology are being targeted and retaliated against. His remarks about the current government have drawn significant attention.
Issar, speaking in an interview, acknowledged Shah’s seniority and talent but criticized his one-sided leftist views. He pointed out that while Shah speaks on various issues, he often remains silent on others. Issar claimed that Shah’s support for Naxalites raises questions about his patriotism.
Issar stated, “He has the right to express his views on any issue and speak against the government. If he dislikes the government, he should contest elections and defeat it, as this government was elected by the people, not formed arbitrarily.” Fellow actor Paresh Rawal also commented, noting that everyone has the right to express their feelings but refrained from commenting on Shah’s personal opinions.
