
KOZHIKODE: V Srinivasan, husband of Rajya Sabha member and Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha, passed away on Friday morning. His demise has triggered a wave of mourning across the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to PT Usha and offered his heartfelt condolences.
PM Modi expressed his sympathies for the bereaved family during this difficult time and prayed for the departed soul’s peace.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also mourned the loss of V Srinivasan. In a social media post, he said, “I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of V Srinivasan, husband of Rajya Sabha MP and Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha. My sincere condolences to PT Usha and her family. I pray to God to give them strength in this challenging time.”
According to reports, 67-year-old Srinivasan suddenly collapsed at his home early Friday morning. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but could not be saved. Srinivasan was a government employee in the central government.
Srinivasan was a strong support to PT Usha throughout her outstanding sporting and political career. He was considered her pillar of strength behind many of her professional achievements. The couple is survived by their son, Ujjwal.
PT Usha, famously known as the “Flying Queen,” is one of the most inspiring figures in Indian sports history. This personal loss is deeply sorrowful not only for her but also for her well-wishers.
