Priyanka Chaturvedi Expresses Condolences Over the Murder of Suvendu Adhikaris PA, Calls for an End to Electoral Violence

New Delhi, May 7: The political atmosphere in West Bengal has intensified following the murder of Chandranath Rath, the personal assistant of BJP leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari. Former Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi expressed her sorrow over the incident, stating that election results should never lead to violence that disrupts law and order in the state.

Chaturvedi took to her social media account on X, saying, “I am shocked and saddened to hear about the targeted murder of Suvendu Adhikari’s PA, Chandranath Rath. Election outcomes should not, and must not, incite violence that derails law and order in the state.”

She added, “I hope the West Bengal police will ensure that those responsible for this heinous crime receive the strictest punishment under the law. My heartfelt condolences go out to Chandranath Rath’s family, friends, colleagues, and Suvendu Adhikari.” She concluded her message with a tribute to the deceased, writing “Om Shanti.”

Chandranath Rath was shot dead on Wednesday night in the Madhyagram area of North 24 Parganas, near Kolkata. Reports indicate that the assailants opened fire on him suddenly, leaving him critically injured. Local residents rushed him to a nearby nursing home, but he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.

The incident has created a tense atmosphere in the area. The BJP has alleged that TMC workers are behind the murder, while the TMC has dismissed these claims as baseless and is demanding a CBI investigation into the matter.

Chandranath Rath was considered a close associate of Suvendu Adhikari for a long time. His murder has sparked a new debate in the state’s politics, raising questions about law and order while escalating accusations between political parties.
