Prime Minister Modi Pays Tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on His Birth Anniversary

New Delhi, February 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on his birth anniversary, stating that he is not merely a king or a ruler but a revered deity for many.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Modi expressed, “On the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary, we honor a visionary leader, a skilled administrator, and a remarkable strategist who championed self-rule. His valor will always inspire us, his governance will guide us, and his spirit of justice and self-respect will empower our society.”

In a video message, Prime Minister Modi emphasized, “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is not just a name. For us, he is more than a king; he is a divine figure. His personality was extraordinary. He established self-rule and embodied good governance. He is renowned for his bravery and administrative skills.”

Modi highlighted the multifaceted nature of Shivaji Maharaj’s character, noting that his life influences us in various ways. He recognized the collective strength of India and expanded the navy, showcasing management skills that continue to inspire today. The Prime Minister remarked that Shivaji Maharaj’s valor, ideology, and sense of justice have motivated generations. His audacious approach, military acumen, and peaceful political system remain a source of inspiration for us.

In another post on Thursday, Modi wrote, “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj always prioritized the welfare of the people and dedicated himself to their protection. Therefore, his life continues to be a guiding light for India.”

He also shared a quote: “Gopayitaram Dataram Dharmanityamatandritam. Akamadveshasamyuktamanurajyanti manavah.” The quote suggests that people cherish representatives who regard their protection as a duty, are committed to public welfare, uphold righteousness, and govern impartially, free from desires and aversions.
