Panaji, March 21 : Bharatiya Janata Party legislature party on Monday elected Pramod Sawant as its leader. on Minister Narendra Singh Tomar told reporters that Dr Sawant’s name was proposed by Valpoi MLA Vishwajit Rane and supported by MLAs Mauvin Godinho, Ravi Naik, Nilesh Cabral and Rohan Khaunte. Earlier the central observers who included Tomar and on minister L Murugan met all the party MLAs and sought their opinion. Dr Sawant is to meet Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai at Raj Bhavan at 7 pm to stake claim to form government. Speaking to reporters Dr Sawant said he will take forward vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP emerged single largest party in the assembly elections held recently winning 20 seats. It has got support of three independent MLAs. The tenure of the state assembly ended on March 16. Dr Sawant was appointed as caretaker chief minister of the state. AKM SHK1922
