Mumbai, May 2: Actress and filmmaker Pooja Bhatt took to social media on Saturday to reminisce about her 1993 film ‘Pehla Nasha’ by sharing a poster from the movie.
On Instagram, Bhatt posted the vintage film poster featuring her alongside Deepak Tijori and Raveena Tandon. She captioned the post with, “Look what I found, Deepak Tijori,” and included the hashtag ‘Pehla Nasha.’
Released on August 13, 1993, ‘Pehla Nasha’ marked the directorial debut of Ashutosh Gowariker, known for acclaimed films like ‘Lagaan,’ ‘Swades,’ and ‘Jodhaa Akbar.’ The film was produced by Mohammad A. Rahim and Viral Shah under the banner of Ahlan Productions. Despite its promising premise, ‘Pehla Nasha’ did not perform well at the box office.
Reports suggest that the film was inspired by Brian De Palma’s ‘Body Double.’ The title is believed to have been taken from the cult classic film ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar,’ specifically its iconic song ‘Pehla Nasha.’
The film also featured memorable cameo appearances by Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Juhi Chawla, and Rahul Roy.
Pooja Bhatt is well-known for her roles in films such as ‘Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin,’ ‘Sadak,’ ‘Sir,’ and ‘Zakhm.’ Meanwhile, Deepak Tijori gained recognition through films like ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar,’ ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa,’ and ‘Aashiqui.’ Raveena Tandon carved her niche with hits like ‘Mohra,’ ‘Dilwale,’ ‘Andaz Apna Apna,’ and ‘Dulhe Raja.’
