Pondy Assembly should adopt two resolutions: Ramadass

Puducherry, March 27 : Former Lok Sabha member from Puducherry, M Ramadass on Sunday urged the administration to adopt two important resolutions, drawing the attention of the Central Government on two contemporary but very vital issues concerning the welfare of people and the on Territory of Puducherry, besides passing a vote on account on March 30. In a statement here, Ramadass said a resolution urging the on government to drop its move to privatise the Puducherry Electricity Department be adopted. He said the employees of the Electricity Department and the people of Puducherry were agitating against the move of the Central Government and these sentiments should be articulated by the representatives of people in the Assembly. Established in 1956, the Electricity Department has grown into a mammoth energy infrastructure today. It does not suffer from any of serious deficiencies warranting privatisation. The Department does not generate electricity and hence, the question of loss in generation of electricity does not arise. He also said that another resolution urging the Centre to include Puducherry under the ambit of 15th Finance Commission, as was done in case of the on Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, be adopted.
