Ballia, June 19: The political landscape in Uttar Pradesh is heating up following claims made by O.P. Rajbhar, the president of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party and a minister in the state government. Rajbhar asserted that 20-25 members of the Samajwadi Party (SP) would defect to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), igniting a flurry of political responses.
In reaction to Rajbhar’s statements, Ramashankar Rajbhar, a Member of Parliament from the Samajwadi Party representing the Salempur constituency, launched a fierce attack, labeling O.P. Rajbhar’s claims as completely unfounded.
Ramashankar Rajbhar pointed out that the nation has already witnessed the truth behind O.P. Rajbhar’s assertions. He stated, “He claimed that Yogi Adityanath would beg for alms; did that happen? He also said that no one is more deceitful than Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. What was the outcome of that? He suggested that his party was responsible for the Samajwadi Party’s electoral victories, while the reality is that he himself benefited from the SP.”
The SP MP further criticized O.P. Rajbhar for failing to manage his own party, noting that three out of five of his party’s legislators have already abandoned him, with two more likely to follow suit.
He emphasized, “A person who cannot save his own party is questioning the Samajwadi Party. The SP is not a party that will crumble.”
In a counterstatement, Ramashankar Rajbhar claimed that if any significant political defection occurs, it will be within the BJP. He predicted that once the model code of conduct is enforced, several BJP MPs and MLAs will join the Samajwadi Party.
He asserted that a government representing the backward classes, Dalits, and minorities (PDA) will emerge in Uttar Pradesh in 2027, and the Samajwadi Party will return to power with renewed strength.
Additionally, he accused O.P. Rajbhar of acting at the behest of the BJP, asserting that his statements hold no political weight. Ramashankar Rajbhar also commented on discussions regarding a constitutional amendment bill during the upcoming monsoon session, alleging that the BJP aims to implement delimitation under the guise of the women’s reservation bill.
He claimed that the BJP is engaging in politics of coercion, attempting to intimidate MPs through pressure tactics and threats from investigative agencies. However, he made it clear that the opposition will not allow any such efforts to succeed.
