Patna, March 5: Political tensions have escalated in Bihar following speculations about Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s potential move to the Rajya Sabha. A significant number of JD(U) workers gathered outside Kumar’s official residence in Patna on Thursday, voicing their support for him.
In conversations with news agencies, JD(U) members expressed their opposition to Kumar’s possible transition to the Rajya Sabha. One worker stated, “We are certainly outraged. We sought votes in every village in the name of Nitish Kumar. However, no one celebrated Holi after the news broke on Wednesday.”
They highlighted that workers across the state are disheartened, questioning the situation after campaigning for Kumar. Another worker remarked, “Nishant Kumar should be sent to the Rajya Sabha, and Nitish Kumar should continue the work for which the people gave him their mandate.”
Additionally, a JD(U) worker asserted that no one should undermine Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s mandate, emphasizing that the people of Bihar want him to remain in power. “Any party wishing to appoint its own Chief Minister must go to the public, win elections, and then they can appoint their leader,” he added.
Another worker claimed that sending Nitish Kumar to the Rajya Sabha is a conspiracy that undermines his stature. “The Rajya Sabha holds no significance for him, as he sends his own leaders there. The mandate of 2025 was given in Nitish Kumar’s name, and we demand that this mandate not be betrayed.”
Meanwhile, Union Minister and JD(U) leader Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lallan Singh) appeared evasive when questioned about Kumar’s future. He stated, “Why are you seeking my response? The Chief Minister must make this decision. He will go wherever he wishes. The party was formed under his leadership.”
Singh emphasized that decisions are not influenced by anyone else’s desires. “Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will make his own choices. What he has accomplished in Bihar is beyond anyone’s imagination.”
