Political Tensions Rise as AAP Rajya Sabha MPs Join BJP

New Delhi, April 25: Political rhetoric has intensified following the resignation of Rajya Sabha MPs from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) who have announced their joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). BJP leaders have stated that AAP needs to engage in self-reflection.

On Friday, AAP MPs Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak, and Ashok Mittal declared their resignations and their decision to join the BJP.

BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj criticized AAP, attributing the resignations to the party’s alleged anti-women policies, ideological bankruptcy, and repeated betrayals of public trust. In a media interaction, she claimed that two-thirds of AAP’s Rajya Sabha MPs are distancing themselves from the party, indicating internal weakness.

Swaraj emphasized that it is time for Arvind Kejriwal, Saurabh Bhardwaj, and the party leadership to introspect. She noted that when senior officials are also leaving in dissatisfaction, it signals a disintegration of the party structure. She further stated that Prime Minister Modi’s development policies are attracting people, leading leaders from other parties to shift towards the BJP.

BJP MP Anurag Thakur also attacked AAP during a conversation, stating that there is a prevailing atmosphere of discontent within the party, with many leaders feeling neglected. Those who entered politics to fight against corruption are now disillusioned and leaving the party. The rapid departure of several AAP leaders and legal troubles faced by some are concerning signs.

He added that anyone who has done wrong will face the law, while those who haven’t need not fear. The BJP believes in the justice system.

Senior BJP leader Teekshan Sood reacted to the developments, asserting that AAP must reflect on its actions. He noted that the party has strayed from the principles of the movement from which it originated. The joining of AAP MPs into the BJP demonstrates that the party is gaining widespread public support across the country.

BJP MLA Anil Goyal stated that the resignations of AAP’s Rajya Sabha MPs are evidence of the party’s declining credibility.
