Chandigarh, May 9: Political tensions have escalated following the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) raid on the residence of Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora. Congress leaders have accused both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of engaging in a mutual game of political maneuvering.
Ahead of a Punjab Congress meeting on Saturday, Bhupesh Baghel, the party’s state in-charge, stated, “Whether it’s the Punjab government (AAP) or Delhi (BJP), both operate in a similar manner. They are two sides of the same coin. In Punjab, the Mann government misuses the Vigilance Department to file cases against everyone. Similarly, in Delhi, the government misuses agencies like the ED, IT, and CBI. One side files a case, and then the other side responds with a counter-case.”
Expanding on Baghel’s comments, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring remarked, “There will be a game played through the ED and CBI. The ED should be questioned about the case of Ashok Mittal (who joined the BJP after leaving AAP). There is an attempt to drag Sanjeev Arora into this. This is how the game is being played. Both parties are using the Vigilance and ED for their own ends.”
Meanwhile, Congress leader and former Punjab Cabinet Minister Gurkirat Singh Kotli commented on the ED’s actions regarding Sanjeev Arora, saying, “This is a government matter, and I don’t think we should interfere unnecessarily. If someone has done something wrong, they must face the law. If the ED has raided Sanjeev Arora’s residence, there must be something suspicious involved.”
He also noted that AAP leaders cry in front of the ED while simultaneously using the Vigilance and other state agencies against their opponents.
