
Bhagalpur, June 6: Police in Bhagalpur district, Bihar, have confiscated a cache of illegal weapons in the Nathnagar police station area. One individual has been arrested in connection with this case. Authorities are now investigating the purpose behind the accumulation of these weapons.
On Saturday, Bhagalpur’s City Superintendent of Police, Shailendra Singh, reported that police received a tip-off about an individual in Raghopur village, allegedly stockpiling illegal arms for a significant criminal act.
Following this information, a special team was formed under the supervision of the Senior Superintendent of Police, comprising the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, City-2, and the Nathnagar Station House Officer. After verifying the tip-off, the team raided the suspect’s residence and discovered a substantial number of illegal firearms.
The police recovered a country-made rifle, a country-made pistol, a country-made gun, and seven cartridges. Following the seizure, the accused, Suresh Mandal, was arrested at the scene. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed at the Nathnagar police station, and further action is underway.
Under the direction of the SSP, ongoing operations against illegal weapons are being conducted across the district. This raid was part of that initiative. Authorities are also delving into Suresh Mandal’s criminal history. They are investigating the intended use of the weapons and the type of crimes they were meant to facilitate. Additionally, in the Achhari police station area, another criminal was apprehended with a country-made pistol, 25 live cartridges, and four empty shells.
