Mau, May 10: In a significant operation, police from Mau and Ghazipur conducted a series of raids on Sunday in search of Aafsha Ansari, the fugitive wife of mafia figure Mukhtar Ansari, who is wanted with a bounty of ₹50,000. The joint team targeted the residence of former municipal chairman Tayyab Palki in Mirzahadipur, where they executed a thorough search for nearly an hour.
During the operation, female officers questioned the women in the house, but no leads on Aafsha Ansari’s whereabouts were found. The police returned empty-handed, leaving supporters of Mukhtar in a state of panic throughout the day.
Reports indicate that Aafsha Ansari, a resident of Yusufpur in the Muhammadabad area of Ghazipur district, faces multiple serious charges, including fraud, forgery, violations of the Public Property Damage Act, the Gangster Act, and Section 174-A, among others, at the South Tola police station in Mau. Additionally, she is reportedly facing around ten cases across various police stations in Ghazipur. The police from both districts have been actively pursuing her arrest for an extended period.
Around 9 AM on Sunday, a joint police team from Kasimabad in Ghazipur and South Tola in Mau arrived at Tayyab Palki’s residence with heavy forces. They conducted a comprehensive search of the premises and interrogated those present. Female officers also conducted separate inquiries to confirm the identities of the women in the house, but they were unsuccessful.
Following the raid, former municipal chairman Tayyab Palki claimed that the operation was politically motivated. He stated that the police were not satisfied with their responses, leading them to question women inside the house. Palki insisted that his relationship with Mukhtar Ansari was purely political and that he had no familial ties. He accused certain individuals of orchestrating such actions out of political malice and asserted his intention to run in the upcoming municipal council elections.
Meanwhile, Mau Circle Officer Krish Rajput confirmed that the joint team from Ghazipur and Mau had conducted the operation in the South Tola area to apprehend Aafsha Ansari, who is wanted with a bounty of ₹50,000.
