Ghaziabad, June 6: A police encounter took place in the Loni area of Ghaziabad district involving a notorious criminal with a bounty of ₹50,000. The suspect, Gaurav, sustained gunshot wounds to both legs during the incident. He has been arrested and sent to the district hospital for treatment.

The Loni police received a tip-off indicating that Gaurav, involved in the kidnapping of Omkar Singh from Ganoli on May 30, was heading towards Nithora Road. Acting on this information, the police set up a checkpoint. During the operation, a man on a motorcycle was spotted approaching from Nithora. When officers signaled him to stop, he attempted to flee.

As the police pursued him, the motorcycle skidded, and Gaurav fired at the police with the intent to harm. In response, the police fired back in self-defense, injuring him in both legs. He was subsequently taken to the hospital for medical care.

Gaurav revealed that he, along with his accomplices, had kidnapped Omkar Rammehar and later murdered him, disposing of the body on Rohta Meerut Road in Gangnagar. A case has been registered at the Loni police station regarding this incident. Authorities recovered a motorcycle, a firearm, a live cartridge, and a spent shell from the suspect.

ACP Siddharth Gautam stated that a case had been filed regarding the kidnapping of Omkar Singh on May 30. Efforts were underway to apprehend all individuals involved. On June 6, police received information that a suspect from the case was traveling towards Nithora Road, prompting immediate action with a checkpoint near the Nithora underpass.

The ACP further explained that when police attempted to stop a motorcyclist, he accelerated to escape. The motorcycle then fell, and upon seeing the police, Gaurav fired at them with intent to kill. The police returned fire in self-defense, resulting in his injuries. He has since been sent to the hospital for treatment.
