Police Encounter in Gwalior: Murder Suspect Injured, Accomplice Arrested

Gwalior, September 1: A 25-year-old man named Vivek Meena was shot dead by three assailants—Saurabh Yadav, Rahul Yadav, and Lala Agarwal—in Anand Nagar, Gwalior district, on the evening of August 27. Following the incident, the trio fled the scene. On the night of Monday-Tuesday, police received information that the suspects were heading towards Old Cantonment from Tighra.

In response, two teams from Bahodapur and Old Cantonment police stations were formed to apprehend the criminals. The police spotted the suspects riding a motorcycle in the Shankarpur area. When the police attempted to stop them, the assailants opened fire. In the ensuing exchange, Saurabh Yadav was shot in the right leg, while his accomplice Rahul Yadav was captured by the police.

The third main suspect, Lala Agarwal, managed to escape by taking advantage of the darkness. Police teams are actively searching for him. Currently, the injured Saurabh Yadav has been admitted to a hospital for treatment. The police have also recovered illegal firearms from the suspects.

Bahodapur Station Officer Alok Parihar stated that efforts to arrest the named suspects had been ongoing since the murder of Vivek Meena. The police received a tip-off about three individuals approaching on a motorcycle from Tighra. Two teams were formed to apprehend them. When the motorcycle riders were approached, they began firing at the police, who responded in self-defense.

Officer Parihar further explained that Saurabh Yadav sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. The second suspect, Rahul Yadav, attempted to flee but was surrounded and captured. The injured suspect has been sent to the hospital, where his condition is stable. The third suspect escaped into the darkness, and police teams are conducting searches and setting up roadblocks to locate him.
