Udaipur : At the wake of increasing COVID cases, Udaipur police held a flag march here on Monday on the major streets of the city area. Cops were on bikes and jeeps and held placards in their hands displaying awareness slogans on the coronavirus. Additional SP (city) Gopal Swaroop Mewara said the police had in past few months held many awareness programs to make people realise the severity of the disease and now when the infection is spreading rapidly, police took out the flag march to send across a message to the civil society to ensure social distancing and following the prohibitory orders.
On Sunday people had gathered in huge numbers at tourist hotspots specially the lake sides at FatehSagar and Pichhola and enjoyed the pleasant monsoon weather. Authorities said that section 144 of the CrPC is in effect and to congregate in large numbers beyond the permissible limit would attract punishment.
Meanwhile, increasing corona cases have been keeping the medical staff on toes for some days. On Monday 105 cases including 68 from urban and 37 from rural areas were reported. According to the sources in the medical department, all the beds in government and private hospitals are completely occupied. Asymptomatic patients and those with minor health issues are being home isolated after been tested positive while those having high fever or other symptoms are only being admitted in hospitals.
Meanwhile, on monday , residents protested against the medical department for converting one of the satellite hospital in Hiran Magri as COVID hospital. The ward corporator and residents staged a protest and met authorities urging not to convert the satellite hospital as a COVID facility since a large number of people turn up at the place to treat common ailments.
