Mumbai, August 9: In a significant operation, police in Ghaziabad and Firozabad have apprehended four criminals following an encounter. Among those arrested is a notorious criminal with a bounty of ₹25,000 on his head.
In Ghaziabad, police successfully detained three drug traffickers. The encounter occurred late at night during an operation against drug trafficking. Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of the SWAT unit, surveillance team, and Vijay Nagar police conducted a checking campaign.
According to police reports, they received information that three individuals were transporting a consignment of drugs on a scooter without a license plate, heading from Indirapuram towards Hindon Barrage. When the police signaled for the scooter to stop, the suspects attempted to flee towards Pashta Road.
During the chase, the scooter skidded on an unpaved road, causing all three suspects to fall. Upon seeing the police approaching, the suspects allegedly opened fire. In the ensuing exchange, Anas sustained two gunshot wounds to his leg, while Dilshad was hit once. Aslam was apprehended at the scene. The police recovered 21 kilograms of marijuana, the scooter, two illegal firearms, and ammunition from the suspects. The injured individuals were transported to a hospital for treatment.
Police revealed that Anas has over a dozen criminal cases registered against him. Investigations into the criminal backgrounds of the other suspects are ongoing. Authorities confirmed that law and order in the area remains stable, and further legal actions are being pursued.
Meanwhile, in Firozabad, police successfully captured a criminal wanted for ₹25,000. Officials reported that the suspect had recently broken into a house, committing robbery and severely injuring a woman. He was apprehended during an encounter in the South Police Station area. Due to a gunshot wound to his leg, he was later taken to the hospital.
