Jammu, March 20 : The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday arrested a narcotic smuggler with the contraband of cannabis in Lakhanpur area of Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir. Station House Officer of Lakhanpur, Vijay Kotwal said that around 15.114 kg cannabis (Charas) was seized during checking near Tourism Building Lakhanpur and one person was arrested in this connection. The vehicle was also seized, he added. The search operation was carried out on the directions of SSP Kathua R C Kotwal and Dy SP DAR Kathua Sukhdev Singh. During patrolling near Tourism Building Lakhanpur, a suspicious truck driven by Manzoor Ahmed Darzi of Pinjoor, Shopian en route from Srinagar towards Punjab was directed to stop for checking. On search, Charas was recovered from the vehicle. A case under NDPS Act was registered and investigation started, Kotwal added. VBH RJ
