New Delhi, March 9 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat on March 11 and 12, to participate in Gujarat Panchayat Mahasammelan and to attend the convocation ceremony of Rashtriya Raksha versity (RRU) as chief guest, the PMO said here on Wednesday. The Prime Minister will deliver the first convocation address of the varsity as Chief Guest. He will also dedicate the building of Rashtriya Raksha versity to the nation on March 12 at 11 am, the PMO said. Rashtriya Raksha versity, an Institution of National Importance, is a dedicated versity in the country on national security and policing. It was set up to meet the need for high quality trained manpower in various wings of policing, criminal justice and correctional administration. The versity offers academic programs from diploma to doctorate level in various areas of policing and internal security. Modi will participate in Gujarat Panchayat Mahasammelan and address the gathering at around 4 pm on March 11, said the PMO. Gujarat has a three-tier Panchayati Raj structure, with 33 district panchayats, 248 taluka panchayats and over 14,500 gram panchayats. The ‘Gujarat Panchayat Mahasammelan: Aa u Gaam, Aa u Gaurav’ will witness participation of more than one lakh representatives, it added. The Prime Minister will declare open the 11th Khel Mahakumbh and deliver an address on the occasion, at around 6:30 pm. Started in 2010, the Khel Mahakumbh today encompasses 36 general sports and 26 para sports. Over 45 lakh sportspersons have registered for the event, the PMO said. “It is a que confluence of traditional sports like kabaddi, kho-kho, tug of war, yogasana, mallakhambh and modern sports like artistic skating, tennis and fencing. It has played an important role in identifying raw talent in sports at the grassroot level. It has also given a thrust to para sports in Gujarat,” added the PMO. ASU RJ
