Bishkek, August 31: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kyrgyzstan enters its second day, marked by significant diplomatic activities. Around 2 PM, he met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) provided updates on the meeting via social media. The bilateral discussions, held on the sidelines of the SCO Summit, covered various topics. Both leaders explored ways to enhance cooperation in defense, economy, pharmaceuticals, science and technology, culture, and education. They also exchanged views on regional and global developments, including the situation in West Asia.
As geopolitical dynamics shift rapidly in West Asia and Eurasia, dialogue with Armenia holds unique significance for India.
This meeting is part of India’s broader diplomatic strategy, emphasizing stronger ties with Central Asia and related regions.
Monday was a busy day for Prime Minister Modi. He began his day in Bishkek by paying tribute at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial.
Modi is also scheduled for separate bilateral meetings with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The upcoming meeting between PM Modi and Putin, particularly in the evening, is highly anticipated.

India and Kyrgyzstan have traditionally enjoyed friendly relations, with cooperation extending across political, defense, security, education, health, and trade sectors.

According to the official schedule, PM Modi’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin is planned for 6 PM.
