PM Modi to Inaugurate Semicon India 2026 on September 17 in New Delhi

New Delhi, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the fifth edition of ‘Semicon India 2026’ on September 17 at the Yashobhoomi venue in New Delhi. This three-day event, running from September 17 to 19, will gather global semiconductor companies, policymakers, investors, researchers, startups, and academics to showcase India’s expanding capabilities in the semiconductor and electronics value chain.

An official statement released on Monday highlighted that the conference will be themed “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem.” This gathering comes at a pivotal time as India accelerates its efforts to strengthen its role in the global semiconductor supply chain. The government’s policy support, increasing investments, and the rising demand for diverse and resilient global supply chains have created new opportunities for India.

The event is jointly organized by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and the global industry association SEMI, which represents the semiconductor, electronics design, and manufacturing sectors worldwide.

This year’s event will feature over 600 exhibitors, including around 300 international companies. The exhibition will occupy a space of 15,000 square meters. Additionally, more than 150 experts and industry leaders will discuss various technical and strategic topics.

Pavilions from six countries and twelve state governments will also be part of the exhibition. Special platforms will be established to promote startups, innovation, student engagement, skill development, and women’s participation in the semiconductor sector.

Approximately 40 startups will showcase their technologies and innovations in the Startup Pavilion. The Workforce Development Pavilion will focus on skill development, employment, and career opportunities in the microelectronics field.

A key highlight of this year’s event will be the “Sand to Silicon to Systems Value Chain Experience,” allowing visitors to explore the entire semiconductor industry value chain, from raw materials to manufacturing, advanced packaging, chip design, electronics, and final system assembly.

The program will also host a startup pitch competition, a student hackathon, and an innovation showcase, providing young entrepreneurs, researchers, and students a platform to present their ideas and technologies.

Keynote speeches, panel discussions, and special sessions will cover topics such as semiconductor manufacturing, artificial intelligence (AI), supply chain resilience, advanced packaging, materials and equipment, chip design, research and development, startups, innovation, and talent development.

Additionally, special roundtable meetings with six international countries will focus on women’s leadership and empowerment, workforce development, and enhancing collaboration in the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector.
