New Delhi, October 13 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Bloomberg New Economy Forum on October 13, 2026, emphasizing the concept of “Power to Empower.” He stated that in today’s world, technology, data, knowledge, and innovation represent the true sources of power. However, he stressed that their real value lies in the purpose for which they are utilized.
During his speech, Modi noted that this year’s forum focuses on emerging powers, highlighting the significant changes the world is experiencing in the third decade of the 21st century. He pointed out that the real question is not who holds power, but how it is being used. Will technology serve only a select few, or will it create new opportunities for millions?
Modi elaborated on the idea of “Power to Empower,” stating that it moves beyond the power of control to the power of enabling, from competition to collaboration, and from personal success to the success of others. Understanding the true value of power in the present time is crucial, he added.
Describing India as the “mother of democracy,” Modi highlighted the nation’s linguistic diversity, with over 100 languages, around 80,000 registered newspapers and publications, more than 1,000 satellite TV channels, and over 500 million YouTube and Instagram users. He noted that open debates on various issues are common in India, with digital power playing a significant role in facilitating these discussions.
Modi recalled that access to mobile internet was a form of power 12-13 years ago, as those with internet access had information, knowledge, and opportunities at their fingertips. Since coming to power in 2014, the government has focused on making mobile data affordable and accessible, enabling even small shopkeepers in villages to reach their customers digitally.
He asserted that connectivity in India has not only connected people but has also linked them to opportunities. This exemplifies “Power to Empower,” where technology is used to uplift individuals and bring positive changes to their lives.
The Prime Minister also addressed the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) across various sectors and acknowledged the growing challenges of an aging population and trust issues globally. He mentioned India’s initiatives, such as the International Solar Alliance and the Biofuel Alliance, which aim to be beneficial for all.
In concluding his remarks, Modi stated, “One Sun, One World, One Network; One Earth, One Family, One Future.” He emphasized India’s commitment to utilizing power to connect the world and empower others. He also highlighted the rapid pace of reforms in India, noting that changes like the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and bankruptcy laws have been moved out of the realm of criminality, reinforcing that reform is not a compulsion but a firm belief.
