PM Modi Enjoys Football with Local Children in Gangtok

Gangtok, April 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently visiting Sikkim. On Tuesday morning, he played football with local children in the capital, Gangtok. The Prime Minister shared several pictures of this joyful moment on social media.

In a post on his X account, he wrote, “A lovely morning in Gangtok, playing football with my little friends is truly special.”

In another update, he mentioned, “An amazing football session with these youngsters.”

The images show PM Modi engaging with the children, fully dressed in athletic gear. He arrived in Gangtok on the evening of April 27, and his schedule for Tuesday is packed. After spending time with the children, he will visit the Orchidarium in Gangtok.

Later, he will participate in the closing ceremony of the 50th anniversary of Sikkim’s statehood at Paljor Stadium, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various development projects worth over ₹4,000 crores across the state. He is also set to address the gathering.

These projects span multiple sectors, including infrastructure, connectivity, healthcare, education, electricity, urban development, environment, tourism, and agriculture, aiming to accelerate holistic and inclusive development in Sikkim.

To promote youth engagement and sports development, PM Modi will inaugurate indoor cricket facilities in the mining area of Rangpo in Pakyong district.

This visit marks a significant achievement in the golden jubilee year of Sikkim’s statehood and reflects the current government’s ongoing commitment to the rapid and sustainable development of the state and the northeastern region.
