PM interacts with student evacuees from Ukraine

New Delhi, Mar 3 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday interacted with students who had returned from Ukraine in Varanasi. The students shared their experiences with the Prime Minister. They were from Varanasi as well as other parts of Uttar Pradesh, official sources said. The government has launched Operation Ganga to bring back stranded Indian citizens in Ukraine as the war between Russia and Ukraine has intensified. The PM has been regularly taking high level meetings to expedite the evacuation of Indian nationals via neighbouring countries of Ukraine. The IAF with its largest transport aircraft C-17 Globemaster has so far brought a total of 798 passengers from Hungary, Poland and Romania on Thursday. In the last 24 hrs 15 flights have landed in the country bringing back more than 3,000 Indians, Ministry of External Affairs said. In the next 24 hours 18 flights have been scheduled, including 3 C17 aircraft of the IAF, besides commercial flights by Air India, Indigo and GoFirst, the Ministry added. With concerns being raised about the safety of Indian students in areas like Kharkiv, the Prime Minister on Wednesday spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin and discussed the safe evacuation of the Indian nationals from the conflict ridden areas of Ukraine.
