Piyush Hazarika Welcomes Guwahati High Courts Decision Against Pawan Khera

Mumbai, April 24: Minister Piyush Hazarika expressed his satisfaction following the Guwahati High Court’s rejection of senior Congress leader Pawan Khera’s anticipatory bail plea on Friday. This case pertains to an FIR filed against Khera regarding allegations related to multiple passports involving Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan.

In a post on his social media account X, Hazarika stated, “I am grateful that the Guwahati High Court denied bail to Pawan Khera.”

He accused Khera of creating forged land documents and passports to manipulate election outcomes and potentially damage India’s relations with other sovereign nations. Hazarika demanded further answers, asking: 1. Who else was involved in this conspiracy? Was Khera the mastermind, or merely a pawn in someone else’s scheme? 2. Who financed this illegal activity, and what other documents did Khera forge? 3. Were any foreign individuals involved in this unlawful act?

Hazarika emphasized, “I have been informed that Pawan Khera is operating through intermediaries, but he forgets that the Assam Police operates under the rule of law. He and all conspirators will face strict legal consequences.”

He further stated that Congress supporters attempting to label this as a fabricated attack on free speech should understand that this issue does not fall under the realm of free expression. It concerns the use of forged documents to influence voters just 48 hours before the elections from an official party platform.
