Perth Scorchers secured a 33-run victory over Adelaide Strikers in the 23rd match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2025-26 at Perth Stadium. Joel Paris was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance, scoring an unbeaten 20 runs off 14 balls with two sixes and taking 2 wickets for 10 runs in 2.1 overs.
With this win, Perth Scorchers climbed to second place on the points table. The team has played six matches this season, winning four. Meanwhile, Adelaide Strikers have lost three out of five matches and are positioned sixth.
After losing the toss, Perth Scorchers chose to bat first and posted 153 runs for eight wickets in their 20 overs. Openers Mitchell Marsh and Sam Fanning gave a strong start, adding 72 runs in 9.1 overs. Marsh scored 37 runs off 33 balls, including one six and five fours, while Fanning contributed 31 runs from 24 deliveries.
Following the solid opening partnership, the Scorchers lost five wickets by the time the score reached 87. Small partnerships helped the team reach a total just above 150. Captain Ashton Turner played a quick 28 runs off 14 balls. From the Strikers’ bowling attack, Lloyd Pope took four wickets conceding 23 runs, and Tabraiz Shamsi claimed three wickets.
In reply, Adelaide Strikers were bowled out in 18.1 overs. They suffered an early blow as Chris Lynn was dismissed for 1 run in the first over with the team at 3 runs. Matthew Short and Mackenzie Harvey tried to stabilise the innings with a 45-run partnership for the second wicket in 27 balls, but the team lost three wickets at 48 runs.
Mackenzie Harvey and Liam Scott added 38 runs for the fifth wicket. Scott scored 33 runs off 28 balls, while Harvey contributed 11 runs. However, their efforts were insufficient to chase the target.
