
Mumbai, April 29: In the 40th match of IPL 2026, Punjab Kings (PBKS) faced off against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Tuesday. Batting first, PBKS scored an impressive 222 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their 20 overs. This marks PBKS’s second highest score against RR in IPL history.
The Punjab Kings fell just one run short of matching their highest score against RR, which was 223 runs achieved in 2020 with only 2 wickets lost. The opening pair of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh provided a solid start once again, scoring 37 runs in just 17 balls. Priyansh was dismissed after scoring 29 runs off 11 balls, falling to Jofra Archer.
Cooper Connolly also contributed with 30 runs from 14 balls before getting out. Prabhsimran Singh continued his excellent form, scoring a powerful 59 runs off 44 balls, including 6 fours and a six. Captain Shreyas Iyer added 30 runs from 27 balls to the total.
In the final overs, Marcus Stoinis played a blistering innings, reaching his half-century in just 20 balls. Stoinis scored a fiery 62 runs off 22 balls, boasting a strike rate of 281 with 4 fours and 6 sixes. He formed an unbroken partnership of 41 runs for the fifth wicket with Suryansh Shedge in just 12 balls.
For this match, Punjab Kings made two changes to their playing XI, bringing in Lockie Ferguson and Suryansh. Rajasthan Royals also made two changes, replacing Shimron Hetmyer with Dasun Shanaka and giving Yash Raj Poonja a chance in place of Ravi Bishnoi.
