Patiala House Court Gives Gaganpreet Copy of Charge Sheet in Dhaula Kuan BMW Case

New Delhi, February 2: The Patiala House Court has ordered that accused Gaganpreet Kaur be provided with a copy of the charge sheet in the Dhaula Kuan BMW case. Gaganpreet appeared in court on Monday and received the copy, with the next hearing scheduled for February 20, when a detailed scrutiny of the charge sheet will take place.

The incident dates back to September 14, 2025, near Dhaula Kuan metro station in Delhi. Navjot Singh, a 52-year-old deputy secretary in the Ministry of Finance, was riding a motorcycle with his wife Sandeep Kaur when the BMW driven by Gaganpreet Kaur hit them at high speed. Navjot Singh suffered serious injuries and later died, while his wife and others were also injured.

Delhi Police filed the charge sheet against Gaganpreet Kaur under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 304A related to causing death by negligence, as well as Sections 281, 125B, and 238A. The police allege that Gaganpreet failed to provide timely medical assistance to the injured, wasting the crucial ‘golden hour’ that could have saved Navjot’s life.

The 400-page charge sheet contains CCTV footage, witness statements, and other evidence. The court had earlier taken cognizance of the charge sheet and issued summons to the accused. By ordering the copy of the charge sheet to be handed over, the court has cleared the way for the case to move forward.

This case has sparked discussions on road safety and negligence-related accidents in Delhi. The next hearing will determine further action after examining the charge sheet in detail.
